365 Days of Japanese Day #31

Yesterday‘s banner picture was a set of chopsticks I was given shortly before leaving Japan. I invited readers to guess what may be written on them.

My Chopsticks
I deliberately made the characters in the image a little hard to make out so as not to give it away too easily!

The word on the chopsticks is “ジェイムス”.

ジェイムス
“jie-i-mu-su” (katakana)
James

That is one way of writing my name in katakana.

Another is “ジェームズ”

ジェームズ
“jie-muzu” (katakana)
James

Both of these variants are used on semi “official” items I have. I will talk about one of them tomorrow. As usual, clue in the header image!
